Metáfora Vegetal
Madrid, June 2024.
Rosenblut & Friedmann Gallery
This exhibition marks significant milestones in the artist's career. It is her first international exhibition, in the important Madrid square, and represents a new concept in the way she approaches her art, collaborative work.
With Metáfora Vegetal, she continues her explorations of corn leaves. This time, it is a set of large-format works where the leaves become brushstrokes after a meticulous process of harvesting, drying, dyeing, cutting, folding and, finally, embroidery on linen.
Under her design and guidance, more than 70 women helped shape the creations. In a sort of solidarity tribe, the group brought together women of all ages, occupations, origins and experiences, including inmates from a Santiago penitentiary.
In a novel montage, the story of the Linos with the recurring volcanoes, wombs, flowers, forests and seeds that pay tribute to the feminine, was complemented with large fabrics as geographic shrouds of the Chilean Territorio and a giant cloud spun with corn fibers - Sinapsis - , among other striking pieces.
